1.09pm Sunday 20 March 2011

THE LOWEST TIDE FOR 20 YEARS?

Technically speaking, the lowest tide in 20 years happened at 1.09 today. However the wind driven wave surge has made the low tide look much like other springtime spring tides. Note below the Connaughtman Rock on view - it's usually out of sight under the wave that breaks there.

Above, some things never change. Winkle pickers take advantage of the exceptionally low tide to collect winkles for the Paris gourmet market.
