8.00am Monday 30 July 2012

Swell is a small1 foot with a fresh north northwesterly force 3 cross/onshore breeze.

Tides
High 04.01 3.3m
Low 09.59 1.1m
High 16.23 3.6m
Low 22.35 0.9m

Tide information sponsored by Finnegans shop Rossnowlagh.

Below, a skeleton near the slipway by the surf club. Is this one of the pair of harbour dolphins that have been spending their summers in Rossnowlagh Bay for several years past? They were here in June this year but have not been seen since the morning when 6 killer whales from Scotland visited Donegal and were sighted swimming about off the wrack hole. I saw the porpoise couple's baby alone in the Creek during evening high tide the following day but the whole pod has been missing since then. Certainly, comparing this skeleton with an image of a harbour dolphin skeleton, it looks as if the killer whales may have snatched a pair of much loved Rossnowlagh visitors.

And on a more cheerful note, a kite boarder mastering this morning's warm breeze.

That last one is just Rossnowlagh being Rossnowlagh, looking more like a painting than a photo this morning.
